The History of the House
Blenheim Palace is the ancestral home of the Dukes of Marlborough and it’s one of England’s great stately homes. It was built in 1705 using money from the dowry of John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough, when he married Sarah Jennings. John Churchill was a soldier in the service of Queen Anne, was awarded lands in Germany by her father, King James I, and became a close friend of Prince Eugene of Savoy.
